Overview of Undergraduate Programme

The BS Chemistry Programme is a four-year degree designed to provide students with strong theoretical knowledge as well as practical competency in various branches of chemistry. The BS programme in Chemistry (BSCY) is specially designed with emphasis on the application of scientific knowledge on industrial problems.

Programme Structure

Years 1 & 2 

During the first two years, students study foundational courses in: Core chemistry, Basic sciences, Social sciences. These courses follow the curriculum guidelines set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Year 3

From the third year onward, students take advanced courses that build their professional and analytical skills, including Separation techniques, Spectroscopy, Natural products, Unit processes. Industrial stoichiometry, Nuclear chemistry, Radiation chemistry

Year 4

In the final year, students select four elective courses based on their preferred area of specialization and complete a final-year project relevant to their chosen field

Practical Training & Industry Exposure

Alongside classroom lectures, the programme emphasizes hands-on learning through laboratory work, experimental activities, and the final-year research project.

Internships

Mandatory internships are arranged for BS Chemistry students, providing real-world exposure in reputable national and multinational organizations such as Archroma, Siddique Sons, PCSIR, Abbott, Capco, Soorty Novatax, Pak Oasis, Gul Ahmed, Macter Pharma and others.

Industrial & Research Visits

Every year, students visit at least one industrial or research facility to observe professional procedures, understand industrial workflows, and strengthen their practical understanding of chemistry-related operations.

Class Advisors and Counselors are available to meet with students by appointment. However, some concerns may be addressed on a walk-in basis. They may provide personal, academic, and career counselling services.
